Killarney National Park spans over 25,000 acres of stunning landscapes. It offers lush forests, serene lakes, and towering mountains.

Visit to Muckross House and Gardens, a 19th-century Victorian mansion set against the backdrop of Muckross Lake. This is where Queen Victoria stayed during her visit to Killarney in 1861. The meticulously maintained gardens are sensational, especially in the spring and summer when the flowers are in full bloom. This is definitely the perfect place for a walk through the meticulously maintained gardens and seeing perfect views of the lake. You can take a tour of the house and also stop at Muckross café for some tea and coffee. Muckross Traditional Farms are also located close to the Café and shop.

Perched on the shores of Lough Leane, Ross Castle is a 15th-century tower house that once served as the home of the O’Donoghue clan. Guided tours are available, providing fascinating insights into the life of Irish nobility during the medieval period.

After exploring the castle, you can take a boat trip from the pier at Ross Castle to Innisfallen island, which was home to a famous monastery or take an enjoyable tour to Lord Brandon’s cottage.

No trip to Killarney is complete without embarking on the Ring of Kerry, a 179-kilometer scenic drive that takes you through some of Ireland’s most breathtaking landscapes. Starting and ending in Killarney, the route winds through charming villages, rugged coastlines, and lush valleys. Highlights include the Gap of Dunloe, a narrow mountain pass that offers spectacular views, and the Ladies View a famous lookout point that provides a sweeping panorama of the lakes and mountains.

For those who prefer not to drive, several tour operators offer guided bus tours, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the scenery. This is a very enjoyable day to spend the day if the weather provides you with clear views. If you do decide to drive, it is advisable to travel in the same direction as the buses so as to not find yourself caught meeting a bus in a particularly narrow part of the road.

St. Mary’s Cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic Revival architecture. It was designed by Augustus Pugin and is definitely worth a visit. The cathedral is not only a place of worship but also a venue for concerts and cultural events.
